Faye MacLean joins board of Caledonia

Staff producer Faye MacLean has joined the board as a director of Caledonia TV.

Faye joined the company in 2002 to work as a researcher on the company’s Gaelic language output, rising to become producer of three series of the hillwalking series Tir is Teanga, and of the 13-part UK network series for Five, Over the Sea to School.

She is the second member of Caledonia’s staff to join founding directors Seona Robertson and Les Wilson and Chairman Stephen Foster on the board.  Sajid Quayum, Caledonia’s Head of Production, became a director in 200d

Stephen Foster welcomed Faye to the Board saying:’ Faye brings a wealth of young creative talent and experience to the senior management team. I know that she will contribute greatly, as has Sajid Quayum, to determining the future strategic direction of the company.

Managing Director Seona Robertson said: Faye has proved herself as a programme maker over the entire range of our output – from network documentaries and children’s series, to local factual and Gaelic.  She’s a key and trusted member of the Caledonia team and we’re now looking to her to help shape policy and the future of the company.’

According to Les Wilson, Caledonia’s Creative Director: ‘There is no Gaelic ghetto at Caledonia, and although Faye is a native Gaelic speaker, she has worked at network level on Children’s, Education and Documentaries for Five, Channel 4 and ITV.  However, Caledonia has a longstanding commitment to Gaelic broadcasting, and having Faye on board as a company director as well as a programme maker emphasises our commitment to production in Gaelic.’
