The Sun Worshippers

THE SUN WORSHIPPERS tells the story of a brilliant Scottish partnership whose scientific and artistic innovation gave birth to the art of photography.

In the 1840’s, David Octavius Hill and his partner Robert Adamson took more than 3,000 photographs, using the newly invented calotype process.  This legacy of images has enormous social, historical and artistic significance for Scotland and the world.  Hill and Adamson were not simply among the first photographers in the world; they remain among the finest.
